TCI Movieclone printers are very flexible accepting both 16mm & 35mm
wet and dry film on the same printer. The format change is quick and
easy, requiring no tools. The immersion wet gate offers high quality
unidirectional print reproduction. The dry gate provides extremely
fast, reliable and economical duplication. The new multi-format sound
head allows all current formats of 35mm sound to be transferred in one
pass. In addition, 16mm interchangeable sound head is available and can
be easily installed.

simplified film threading path
The unique film transport system using a DC servomotor
eliminates the need for feed and take-up sprockets. Feed and take-up
units are driven by torque motors that are servocontrolled by the film
tension. Gentle film transport is safe for original negatives and
minimizes inter-negative wear over long print runs. This makes
TCI MOVIECLONE printer very quiet in operation.

notable optical system
The TCI MOVIECLONE printer includes a new dichroic additive color light source
incorporating 3 new high speed electronic light valves controlled by
galvanometer. It virtually eliminates maintenance and produces fast
& accurate exposure controls. The entire optical system is mounted
in front of a main plate to provide a short and optimized optical path,
producing a major increase in light availability at the printing
aperture. It also allows technicians to change the printing lamp or to
clean the optics with only minimal adjustment.
computerized accurate control system
Unlike other printers, the Movieclone bidirectional convertible printer is fully
computerized. One microprocessor is provided to control a variety of
printer setup functions: light valve controls, electrogates, fault
detection, trims and lamp voltage, etc. It can accept light valve,
fader, and frame count cue control data from either 3-1/2 inch floppy
disks or traditional punched paper tapes and is able to store 2500
scenes of color, fader control and FCC control data. |

new air drying system
The film is steadily dried, as it gets out of the wet printing gate by
a dedicated air dryer in order to wipe the solvent from the
perforations. Internal measures of the drying section are optimized to
guarantee a perfect result while avoiding high temperatures. |
